To the membership of IAJE-PA Unit,
As you have undoubtedly heard by now, our parent organization IAJE
filed for bankruptcy under Chapter 7. All of the implications of
this move by the international board are still being sorted out,
but having recently met with the PA Executive Board, I want to
assure you that the Pennsylvania Unit is still in business and
solvent and continuing to serve the membership. Your board is
committed to jazz education and its mission to foster teaching at
the highest levels.
Although
we will not be receiving the rebates from your national dues, our
treasury is healthy and we will continue to operate the many
projects that we have taken on. These include such items as the
scholarship program for All-State Jazz members, the All-State Jazz
commissioning project and our continued collaboration with PMEA.
The coming months are going to prove a challenge as we wrestle
with the changes this will bring, but with the dedication of the
membership and executive board to jazz education, I know we will
continue our mission.
Please feel free to contact me or any of your executive board if
you have any questions. We will try to answer them as best we can.
Sincerely,
Dr. Stephen Clickard
President, IAJE-PA Unit
